MBTA 'Green Line' tracks at Chestnut Hill, Boston, MA - March 2014
One common feature of several US 'light transit' systems is frequently the wonder that the overhead actually stays up given the apparent state of the OHLE equipment and posts! Here on the Green Line Riverside branch a view from the overbridge on Reservoir Road. Locally the overhead appears to have been strengthened by simply inserting secondary columns and tensioning original ones to them rather than 'unpicking and unstitching' original works. The electrification dates from 1958/9 when MBTA took over the old Boston & Albany tracks to Riverside.
