Future Alignment of California Highway 138
A scraper moves dirt taken from further down the hill to be dropped in the low area right below the line of sight from the turnout on highway 138 at Summit.
Eventually, the area where I am standing will be cut down to meet the level below and the highway will go roughly in a strait line instead of taking the many switch back turns that the 1930's road bed where the pickup truck is parked takes.
