Mayfield Mosaic
This is close up of a lovely mosaic created for the village of Mayfield, East Sussex, England.
The village name is thought to be of Saxon origin, Maghefeld or Maid's Field. (the whole mosaic, showing this name is in comments)
Mayfield is famous for the legend of St Dunstan. The saint, formerly a blacksmith was working at his forge when the Devil, disguised as a beautiful woman, paid him a visit intending on leading him astray. However the saint spotted cloven hooves beneath her long robe, and grabbed the devil's nose with his red hot pincers thus foiling Satan's evil plan. Visitors to the village convent (now a boarding school) can see the famous tongs of St Dunstan, and his anvil. So it must be true.
