Huddersfield Railway Station
Grade 1 listed and given a 4 star rating by Simon Jenkins in his 100 Best Railway Stations book. Jenkins notes it was designed in 1847 by architects James Pritchard and son, and built on land owned by the Ramsden family and their trustees. One of the trustees was Earl Fitzwilliam, owner of the Wentworth Woodhouse mansion. He insisted on Pritchard's appointment as architect and it is no surprise therefor that the exterior has been influenced by the Palladian east front of Wentworth Woodhouse.
