The bathtub is starting to fill
Medicine Lake situated in Jasper National Park, is according to Wikipedia, not actually a lake but a sort of collection basin which the Maligne River flows into from Maligne Lake. The river disappears underground and when it ultimately surfaces, it flows into the Athabasca River. During the summer months when there is intensified meltwater runoff the basin fills and voila it appears to be a lake; the basin fills up quicker than it can drain. When the runoff is reduced, the lake starts to drain.
