The official name of this bright building is the Universiade Pavilion; it was built for the 1983 Summer Universiade. The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation.
Due to it's rectangular shape and bright yellow exterior, Edmontonians began referring to the building as the Butterdome.
Now I need a gigantic piece of toast.
