Au revoir
I had taken the shot of Arthur's take off, it was blurry, but not bad. Arthur had even let me take this portrait of him and he had attempted to wave at his adoring fans. I went inside in a pensive mood, although Arthur was a fearsome predator, there were many dangers out there for him in this huge world. He could potentially live for 2 years, and fly many miles in search of new habitats, but danger always lurked around the corner for the unwary insect. I took one more look outside and Arthur was still there, then I turned away and left the house and Arthur.
If you ever see a 20 spot ladybird, don't be afraid to ask him "Are you Arthur?", you may be surprised at the response...
Here's why I think Arthur was so helpful
Apparently, Ladybirds don't fly at temperatures below about 12 degrees C, in the house the temperature was above that. When he hit the window he fell into the corner of the patio, where it slides next to the other door and got dust and stuff over himself. So, when I took him outside to let him go, it was quite a bit colder than inside and he was also cleaning himself of the detritus he had picked up from the corner of the door. That doesn't explain his perfect English though...
