Gulf Coast Memories

Galveston Island continues to improve since Hurricane Ike, but there's such a long way to go yet. Tourists can see tha Galveston's beach and public face are improving.

Some of you may recall the shells my husband picked up on the beach here for me early in 2009; there was so much glass on the beach that it wasn't safe to walk barefoot. It's good to see people starting t return with their families, even though it will be a long time before things seem like before for life-time Texans, I'm sure.

My husband's Aunt grew up on Galveston Island; I could not show here the photos of her street after I visited for the first time. But they are working hard on the Island's recovery still. They are some very strong survivors, these folks.

Good luck, Galveston (and all of the Gulf Coast).
