“The melancholy days are come, the saddest of the year Of wailing winds and naked woods and meadows brown and sear”
William Cullen Bryant
It's a rough time at this time of year for many folk...personally i have a particular loathing of the 'false cheer' and 'family time' that is the norm at this time of year...i usually tag along with someone else's family, peeping in on their lives, all the time resenting mine for it's lack of joie de vivre and familial enjoyment...i miss my mum at this time of year, she was the glue that held us all together ...since she died i for one have not felt part of a family in any real sense.
the only thing i like about christmas is the lights...fairy lights, christmas lights in towns, folks who festoon their houses in lights (it may be tacky but i love it)
if i could i'd be Tim the Toolman and have a roof so lit up with sparkling, twinkling, lighty-up fabulousness that i'd blow the national power network :o)
