St Pauls Cathedral, View From The Shard
I took a trip up to the top of London's newest and Europe's Tallest Building, The Shard. Weather conditions in London at 09.00am that day where not too bad, but not fantastic either. A morning mist had not yet cleared up completely making anything further than 5-10 miles away very difficult to photograph. The Shard's viewing deck consists of two levels, one contained in glass and one open air platform surrounded by the Shard's tall pointed glass top. Looking out over the London skyline is indeed quite a view and you quickly loose track of time just staring out into an infinite sprawling mass of structures as far as the eye can see.
Taking photographs of the view is however not that easy, The Shard's glass is made up of two layers, causing a reflection when pointing your camera out towards the view. Trying to find a point on the glass that will allow you to not get any glare is quite tricky and very annoying. The Shard's policy is also NO TRIPODS ALLOWED, however small they may be. Another let down for any Photographer.
All in all though, this was a very enjoyable visit and I would recommend it to anybody who visits London.
