Joe Gedney(+ Mark), 15 Yrs. old killed both cats. Young boys learned to use and hunt with firearms at a very young age back around the turn of the Century and before. One story is that in one large family one of the small boys was sent out alone to kill a deer for the family, and if he failed to get one he was given a whipping.
On some days after hunting hard all day he was so tired that when he came home with no deer he was so weak that he was dragging the rifle, being too weak to heft it and resigned to yet another whipping. It was said that he became a very good hunter.
