A warmful village
Madagascar island hosts an amazing central plateaux landscape knowly called "Highlands". Both symbol of nature power (with its red color) and the power on nature.
Farbefore filled with forest, nowadays it shows the desolation smile of a bleeding land. Overused by the local people with the "slush and burn" agriculture which still remain the average population's activities, Madagascar's land moved from red island to red island.
But this is not only a fact, this is also a tradition. When you live in land with average altitude 1500m highlands and where the population number soars constantly, and where the soil is based mainly of laterite and volcanoe land, you need to use all free space for cropping.
In this photo, we can realize those facts, first plan of burnt grasses, then ricefield, red "pisee" house of traditional malagasy house all oriented west, left forest on backyard.
