Mather Point at Grand Canyon National Park
That telltale wedgie-d boulder gives the Point away.
Two Australian tourists inadvertently shamed me into this first-of-a-lifetime Grand Canyon visit during a train ride last April near Prague. They had roamed much of the globe, could chat with authority of earthly wonders from Hong Kong to Paris, but reserved a special reverence for a famously colossal gorge seen in North America.
I still remember how one looked at me when I admitted that I'd never seen this gorge, although I've spent most of my life only two states west.
