Subway at rest. See the frayed molding and pimpled sheet metal? Ivan Denisovich could have bombed around in this old hulk on the way home from the gulag.

 

I spotted newer cars on the Metro, like the model shown at the Novoslobodskaya station earlier in this set, but many, many battered war horses like the one shown here. They seem to work just fine, though: the Metro was impeccably reliable in my days here, and some rush hour trains arrived with minute-and-a-half headways.
