Prickett Fort Cemetery

Prickett Fort Cemetery is a private burial ground adjacent to Prickett's Fort State Park. It was established in 1774 and has been in continous use.

Many of the old stones have crumbled and there are 31 unmarked graves. When the Fort was rebuilt the Park Dept. put wooden frames around many of the old stones to protect them.

 

A memorial stone is there for the founder Capt. Jacob Prickett, also for his son Isaiah who was killed by Indians and the wife of his son Josiah, Charity (Taylor) Prickett. However her name at the time of death was actually Jolliffe.
