ADDITIONAL NOTES.
On the face of it this is a standard Merry-go-Round coal hopper but the vehicle was the only one of its type. It was built in 1977 as a standard vehicle in lot 3887 but being the last of its batch it was fitted with an experimental pneumatic door mechanism. The prototype modification was never put into production and when building resumed in 1980 with lot 3978 covering wagons 365000 to 365499 they emerged with standard mechanically operated door mechanisms. So 359571 became non standard and was removed from the coal fleet to become a barrier wagon for dangerous goods trains. To prevent accidental loading the doors were removed and it ran about into the late 1980's lettered "Barrier Wagon" with TOPS code RBA.
