Lord deliver me from this Evil (6S94)....... Please keep going.... Amen !

This is the FAP (Fault Annunciator Panel) on class 92 037 after climbing Beattock bank with train 6S94 14.40 Kingmoor Yard to Mossend Yard (normally 03.05 Dollands Moor to Irvine) the weight on this occasion being 1879 tonnes just under the maximum for a single class 92. When looped it was still red hot with all fans running in step three as one traction motor had reached 134°C and most were well over 100°. The biggest problem causing the displayed fault above is the no.1 traction converter had reached 65°C which is the critical point where the loco starts to enter self preservation mode and reduces traction power to the motors. If this kicks in before Harthope Viaduct climbing Beattock you are normally condemned to a slow death as the loco reduces more power, then as it drops below about 300kN tractive effort the loco simply stalls on the gradient. Thankfully I got the killer message just under a mile from the summit but drizzle was causing more loss of traction so the summit was reached at 14mph where I was able to get this photo in the loop having not acknowledged it thus not clearing the screen.

A few more grey hairs and time for a cup of tea and thankfully 92 037 came good for me in the end.
