2'0" gauge 4wDH (AK 10/1983) Cherry Orchard Brickworks, Rochford, Essex.

The 2'0" gauge line from the clay pits at Cherry Orchard near Rochford to the brickworks was a little over ½ mile long and ran along the edge of fields for most of its length. 4wDH (AK 10/1983) is seen here with three empty V skips on one of the bends soon after crossing a farm track. The site was in the ownership of Butterley Building Materials Ltd when this shot was taken in April 1989 but by 1993 the rail operations had been run down with very limited use and total closure followed in February 1995. This Alan Keef built loco was new to this site in 1983 and sold to local enthusiasts when the railway operations were being run down in December 1992 it moved to the nearby Wickford Narrow Gauge Railway.
