ADDITIONAL NOTES.

These Ferry Tube wagons were formerly revenue fleet vehicles and coded OIX. The main difference between this batch and the Standard Tube wagons coded STV was the fitting of two side doors rather than a central one and the requirement for UIC standard buffers and air brakes. Hence they were dual braked from new in a time when BR was largely a vacuum braked freight network. By 1982 the bulk of the fleet had been transferred to the BR departmental fleet and coded ZDX. Some reverted to their BR numbers in the B 733xxx range while others retained their UIC numbers. The UIC vehicles were retained to allow wagon parts for UK registered wagons crippled abroad to be conveyed into Europe via the Dover-Dunkerque train ferry. Hence this vehicle is lettered for the MEs RSE (Mechanical Engineers / Rolling Stock Engineers). On this occasion the wagon was in use conveying wagon spares to the C&W Sidings in Tonbridge West Yard.
