4wDM's (FH 3857/1957) & (FH 3968/1961) at Queenborough Rolling Mill locomotive shed. 1994.
Another pair of ex Ministry of Defence locomotives to see use secondhand at Queenborough Rolling Mill and scrapyard were these two F.C. Hibberd built 4wDM's fitted with 105hp Foden FD6 diesel engines. They arrived in November 1990 from the Royal Navy mines depot at Milford Haven in West Wales. Still with RN plates "Yard no.8690" and "Yard no.9677" they are seen in the loco depot yard at Queenborough. Being fitted with dumb buffers they didn't tend to see much use on the Rushenden branch but instead tended to see use shunting at the scrapyard. Both survived their careers at Queenborough unlike quite a few that didn't and both went for preservation at the Lavender Line at Isfield in West Sussex leaving here around August 1999.
