The underground tour of the White Scar Caves complex takes about 1h 20mins and is a walk of about one kilometre from the entrance to the end of the publicly accessible part of the cave complex. Parts of it are narrow and others have very low headroom but its well worth the bent knees and dripping cold water to experience the marvelous rock formations deep under the Pennine Hills. My good lady wife is seen negotiating the part of the route known as "The Squeeze" where the passageway is being narrowed by a large flowstone. All the time the noise of running water is beneath your feet as the path is elevated above an underground stream which cascades over an underground waterfall.
