2-BIL set 2090 at Shoreham (Kent). 10/05/86.

National Railway Museum owned class 401 2-BIL set no.2090 is seen leading 4-SUB no.4732 during a photostop at Shoreham (Kent) with the Southern Electric Group "William the Conqueror" railtour. The tour was so named as it took the Southern Region EMU's on to the London Midland Region thus conquering new routes for the BIL and SUB units and then traversed the newly electrified Hastings line two days ahead of the inaugural public service on the 12th, the line via Battle had been rebranded as the "1066 Route" and was later to get a named train for a short period called the "Conqueror".
