ex BR 03 027 at Queenborough Rolling Mill. 30/06/86.
A final look at ex BR class 03 no. 03 027 sold by BR to Queenborough Shipbreaking Ltd and by this date operated by the Rolling Mill Co. 03 027 was withdrawn by BR on 30/01/76 from Colchester Depot and sold to P. Wood Queenborough Shipbreaking Ltd on 16/07/76 where it was put to use working the Rushenden branch from the scrapyard to the steel mill. It remained here until being sold privately to a Mr P Helme who moved the loco to the SYRPS at Meadowhall in February 1991. After several more moves it is now to be found at Rowsley shed, Peak Rail, Derbyshire. My good friend Geoff Noakes is seen peering out from the cab window ahead of another run down the branch to the scrapyard. The track on this line was nothing short of atrocious but made for an interesting ride.
