Having been repatriated from contract hire use in Spain a line of English Electric type 3's sit gently rotting away in Tyne Yard.
EWS will always be remembered for its modernisation plan that saw the massed ranks of ex BR traction switched off in favour of GM imports but as they say all good things come to an end. To be fair most of what EWS inherited from BR was pretty tired or long in the tooth and replacement was inevitable.
For the record the line up here front to back is: 37 046, 37 221, 37 058, 37 693, 37 196 and 37 891.
