Richborough Sidings, Kent. 2013.

The signal still has its Richborough Sidings signal box prefix EBQ but is no longer controlled by the signal box which was burnt down 25 years earlier than this picture on 17.08.1988. As I understand it signals EBQ 1 on the down line and EBQ 17 (as above) on the up line are incapable of showing any other aspect other than a permanent green which is somewhat unusual. This has been brought about by the fact Richborough Sidings signal box has never been formally abolished so despite not appearing in current railway notices for purely signalling purposes on this Asolute Block route it is considered to be switched out hence all signals cleared and extending the block section from Minster to Sandwich. The subsidiary signal is thus obsolete having never been removed from the post.

The lamp posts on the left were once provided for Richbrough Sidings run round loop, the old formation of which can be seen stretching into the distance beside the up line. Richborough Power Station was only accessible with a reversal at this location. Trains would draw past the trailing connection into the loop then set back into the loop before driving down the branch towards the power station. The wind turbine is located roughly where Richborough Power Station was before being demolished.
