DR 112 029 at Potsdam Hbf. East Germany.

The DR class 212 was still in production when the unification of East and West Germany came to pass, unlike the ill fated class 252 (later 156) the class 212 (later 112) were deemed to be very successful and the unified railway under DBAG ordered further examples for delivery to former DB depots. The locomotives were conceived as an updated passenger version of the class 250 (later 155) freight loco encompassing design features of the class 243 (later 143) but the 112's were built as passenger locomotives rather than mixed traffic as in the class 143's and have thyristor control and 160km/h capabilities.

As dawn starts to break 112 029-4 stands at Potsdam Hbf with train 4733 the 08.07 to Oranienburg. This being a clockwise service round the Berlin Ringbahn.
