Once a very common site on the rural railway backwaters of West Germany before unification. The humble Waggonfabrik Uerdingen built "Ferkel Taxi" (Piglet taxi) railbuses. The whole class originally carried this distinctive faded maroon red livery which gave rise to their nickname as piglet taxi's.
On the left stands class 998 trailer vehicles with 998 079 leading, while on the right stands railbus 798 575 waiting to depart with train 6459 the 11.52 to Rosenheim. The single railcar was actually strengthened with a second railbus which can be seen in arriving in the background into the same platform. This being 798 737 which had worked in earlier as the 10.40 ex Ebersberg (Oberbay) then shunted across to attach to the Rosenheim train. Wasserburg (Inn) Bf was once a rail cross roads with the steeply graded line west to Ebersberg (Oberbay) and Grafing still open. East there was a short 4km branch to Wasserburg Stadt this shut abruptly in March 1987 after a substantial landslide blocked the route and it was deemed beyond economic repair so buses substitution was instigated.
