Longwood is the most frequently visited of all the historic houses in Natchez. Many photos I see of it do not include people, which to me is a shame,since including people helps humanize this building and also help convey its enormous size. Longwood is the largest octagonal house in America, and the largest ante-bellum house in Natchez.
Longwood has four facades with the double story porches (photo left).... so there are a total of eight outdoor rooms associated with the Italian style columns on pedestals, and four facades with the three-arched balcony (photo right).
