what is it with people when they see a perfectly formed fungi ..that they feel the need to kick it into oblivion ...why do that they dont do it to flowers?

but now I really must rant and get a few things off my chest ( and yes I know … don't tell it to you ...tell it to yahoo...........oh trust me I have!! LOL )

 

Boo hoo yahoo! I see you've been busy making more improvements to flickr., ensuring it looks nothing like home , with all the added misery of having to relearn . …. added to the fact that you have received payment to continue my pro subscription for another year. Yet you see fit to downgrade me to a non pro account!! ….IS IT REALLY any wonder that I'm slowly losing my will to flickr.

 

Seems to me that the “tech elves” who control how we use social media are not “people people”..(or even “people elves” come to that).... they are concerned only, with where they think we should be going next .With little regard ,as to where we have come from ,and the wisdom we have gathered along the way .

There's a wise saying that served man very well!! (right up to the point where he needed to resell us... that which he had already just sold us).........IF IT AINT BROKE , DONT FIX IT !!

Oh don't get me wrong !! …. I'm all for improvements …....its just that ,more apps , gadgets and widgets are sometimes simply just that” MORE”. And more has little to do with improvement.

Improvement is the subtle on going processes of refinement ….“to make better”... by smoothing the running ,and ease of use ,of that which is already working . If anything! it has more to with “less” than it has to do with the acquisition of MORE.

And yes I'm getting old ( does it show?? lololol)

I'm not kicking ,screaming ,trying to avoid the technical revolution, that's taking place.......Quite the opposite …...I embrace it ,whole heartedly!! I think its wonderful …. . its just that ,well sometimes I feel that the “tech elves” forget that they are not creating software to compete with rival tech elves (there are plenty of other platforms for that).......but instead they are meant to be creating social media sites that are going to be used by ageing mortals such as myself . And I like the comfortable feeling that comes with familiarity . I don't want to have run the gauntlet of technical challenge and win the krypton factor, each time I want to upload a photo or fancy a chat .

So I say to you yahoo and flickr. If your motives REALLY ARE to improve the user experience .Then might I suggest ,you go about your business in a slightly more elegant manor . Diligently looking for solutions to glitches , refining quality and performance efficiency ..Endlessly working (yet all the while barely noticed by us) towards the smooth integration of tried and tested improvemts. Instead of bouncing around like some pubescent elf whose just discovered he can do more with his tinkle than just piss through it !!! “LOOK AT THIS !!....AREN'T WE CLEVER !!! ..WE CAN CHANCE HOW YOU DO STUFF,.....and …...and.... AND HOW IT LOOKS....... and …EVERYTHING!!!!!!”
