Alabama Hills (In Explore)
The Alabama Hills are located just outside of Lone Pine, CA. This area has been used to shoot hundreds of movies over the years. This trip started out as a really nice sunny day, but then the wind decided to put on a show. WOW! Did it really start to blow.
I stopped at this lookout to capture the dust as it started to get picked up by the wind. We were on our way to Manzanar to take more pictures, but I couldn't even see where to turn into the memorial off the freeway because of all the dust blowing. We decided to go back to the motel and forego fighting the dust and wind.
The day didn't end peacefully though. When we got back to Lone Pine, we found out that the power was out. That meant no where to eat and no heat for our motel rooms. Luckily, there were two taco trucks near our motel so we didn't starve. The power did come back on around 7:00 and we didn't freeze. It was a pretty interesting day.
