Pine Creek, CA (Explored)

Pine Creek comes off of the Sierras a little North of Bishop. We were doing what I call free shooting on our outing. I drive around and we look for locations to shoot. This canyon was a good pick.

This location was just before the roads ends going up into the canyon. It ends right below the peaks you see in the background. There is an old mining operation that still is present, but they make hydroelectricity now from the mountain water run off. There is an area that you can explore where there are the remnants of old mining.

The first mine shaft went in over 100 years ago and came from a shaft that was at around 12,000 feet. The ore was brought down to the area at the end of the road and you can walk around and access the area. We saw a couple of old shelters that were still standing.

The view of the creek was pretty awesome as we drove up. Like most of the creeks on the Eastern side of the Sierras, Pine Creek was bordered by beautiful aspens. This would be a pretty good place to shoot in the fall if you can get the leaves changing color.
