Pine Logging Camp, CA

This is a view of the sawdust burner that used to burn 24 hours a day. This logging camp ended operation in 1979 and is a short hike from the Dinkey Creek Campground. We like to hike up to the logging camp when we stay at Dinkey. There is a historical group in Shaver that is trying to restore some of the buildings so that people can get an idea of what the logging camp was like when it was running. Most of the homes were vandalized after the mill closed and were torn down. A few still remain and it is fun to walk around inside of the old buildings. The homes were built with wood milled here and were actually pretty well made. If you ever get in the area, this is a fun stop to explore.
