Mariposa Grove Trail, Yosemite N. P.

This is the beginning of the trail going into Mariposa Grove in Yosemite. The grove area has been closed for around three years while they made changes to the roads, parking, buildings, and trail. I love the way the trail started these majestic giants hovering overhead. You can see how tall they are by looking those people on the trail that look likes ants compared to them.

They really did a nice job on the trails into the grove. I'm not really into the idea of restricting access into wilderness areas, but with the volume of people that comes through the giant Sequoias there is definitely a need here. You have a choice of basically three trails of varying distances and difficulty levels. We chose to go on the 2 mile loop and really enjoyed it. There are placards set up throughout the trail describing plant and animal life along the trail. There also are a number of benches cut from fallen trees that make it nice if you want to take a break and enjoy the beauty of the area.

Mariposa Grove is located just after you get into the park from the Highway 41 entrance out of Fish Camp. Most people like to travel down into the valley, but if you want to see a forest of majestic giants, take the drive up to Mariposa Grove and get away from the huge crowds. You won't regret the side trip into this wonderland.
