Alaska Sunset

This was taken from the deck of the ferry after we left Petersburg. We made a quick stop in the town and got a few great pictures of the seals relaxing on the buoys in the channel. The day was late and the ship was driving into the setting sun. It wasn't easy getting this shot on a moving vessel. I had to bump the iso way up and hope we didn't have any rough water or wind while I was shooting.

The ferry trip to Alaska is really a great trip. This was my second experience on it and I loved it as much as the first time. A bonus was that I had a way better camera this time. Every night we had scenes like this one and during the day we were on the constant lookout for opportunities to shoot the wildlife near the ship. You do have to stay up a little later to get the sunsets because the days are much longer up here. This picture was taken near midnight, but as you can see it is worth staying up to get this view.
