Snow Plant

This is a very curious flower. It doesn't have any chlorophyll so you won't see any green in it at all. The plant feeds off of the nutrients provided by fungus that live in the ground near pine trees. It comes out of the ground in spring as the snow starts to melt. By the time July comes, these plants will disappear and you won't see them again until the next snow thaw. This one is just coming out of the ground. They can grow to be about one foot tall and are quite a sight to see.
