Furnace Creek, Death Valley National Park, CA
I took this sunset right after setting up my campsite in the Texas Springs Campground. My Death Valley experience started out pretty miserably. The ground at the campgrounds is like cement. I borrowed a hammer from a neighbor to pound in the my tent's stakes into the ground. My rubber mallet couldn't provide enough force to do the job. Even with the hammer it took me an hour to pound in the stakes in 104 degree heat.
Well needless to say, this city boy was a little worn out after the last stake was in the ground and the tent was up. But I looked at the sky and thought you can't miss this. So I grabbed the camera and tripod and went on a short hike to a bluff over looking Furnace Creek. This beautiful cloud put on quite a show for about an hour as the sun went down. It started out bright orange and then turned to pink. This shot caught the colors in transition and was quite a sight to see.
Have a great weekend exploring and finding things to shoot.
