California Poppy

This was taken at Montana De Oro State Park near Morro Bay. We had rain last week and it was enough for the wild flowers on the coast to start blooming. I couldn't believe the deep orange and yellow colors that these flowers had. It was pretty amazing.

 

For those that don't know, this is also our state flower. They are protected and grow in the wild all over the state. I think you would agree we picked a pretty nice flower to represent the golden state.
