Death Valley Trumpet

This plant looks like it should be on another planet like Mars. Every time we shot flowers I would see dried up stalks of this plant with no flowers. On our last day I finally saw one with a flower. I was surprised to see how tiny the flower was compared to the large stalk. The bulbous stalks can be as large as a sausage. It is a very cool looking plant.
