First Kernow: 32027 OIG 1794 [ex V124 LGC], near Boskenna

2020 was looking very doubtful for the summer season operation of open tops in West Cornwall, they however did appear from mid July for coverage of the peak summer weeks in line with DfT recommendations to allow extra capacity. Here we find the one off Volvo B7TL, Alexander ALX400 example that had carried the Atlantic Coaster livery for a number of years, having previously carried Kernow inspired green for the now discontinued 400 Falmouth explorer service.

OIG 1794 with this timeless registration plate, is very much a one off in the fleet with all newer conversions been part covering at the front, a shame in one respect but probably sensible with unpredictable weather over a season. This example was new to London Central in duel door format. I understand this was a Volvo lease bus and part of this batch ended up been used for warranty cover by Volvo, having seen use with Ensign and later First Somerset & Avon where it seemingly lost its roof due to a low hanging branch and presumabilly ended up in First ownership as a result to be converted to open top, notable link to loss of roof here:

Anyway OIG 1794 operates on a A1 Penzance to Land's End, where it mainly stuck to the same couple of duties over my visit to avoid use on the A2 and A3, although it did end up on the loop the one day, the A2 between Land's End and St Ives only been a limited 2 hourly service for 2020.
