McCracken's Rest (for bikers!)
'86-'88 Kawasaki Ninja GPZ1000R on left (the bike was only manufactured for three years that is a rather short gestation really, as it was originally made to supersede the GPZ900R, however that plan from Kawasaki completely failed as the GPZ900R continued until 2003!) The GPZ990R, and the GPZ1000R models from '86-'88 were the fastest sports production motorcycles in the world at the time with top speed 150mph, achieved by advanced technology & design including water cooling and 16 valves, allowing additional power, and a frame that used the engine as a stressed member for improved handling and reduced weight as a result of testing that showed that the standard downtubes carried virtually no weight and could be eliminated.
