Royal Spoonbill (Kotuku Kutupapa):
When tides are high silky white Kotuku Kutupapa perch sheltered and protected on the rock nugget pictured. Shy and graceful, they fly with the tide to spoon their bills in shallow Catlins estuaries (hence the name 'Spoonbill')
There are also several seals sunbathing (no sun) on the rocks, if you look carefully you can see them (it may pay to open the pic up to it max pixel size)
