Upcycled Kick Spindle 2
This kick spindle is made from 100% UPCYCLED materials. The wood is a rich African wood I was fortunate enough to find as a pallet in the scrap heap. The wheel is a bicycle training wheel that was missing it's mate. The ball bearing was from a pair of cast-off roller blades. It is put together with oak dowels, and finished in a beeswax and orange oil finish. I have added a non-slip surface to the bottom, also found, and my favorite part is the addition of 3 PVC sleeves that slip over the spindle. They stay in place with a hitch pin and remove easily when you want to change out your yarns. I have included 3 of these sleeves to make plying easier. I haven't seen this done before, but realized the need for it on the kick spindle I made for myself. Happy Spinning!
