Callitriche heterophylla (Common Water-starwort)

Stunning, isn't it? If you squint you can see that it's in raging bloom. Members of the genus, all very small, have flowers without a perianth - no petals or sepals. This colony was in very shallow water of a bottomland forest. Congaree National Park, Richland County, South Carolina
