Crataegus senta (Rough hawthorn)

This is at the famed Haw Ridge, near McBee. Many decades ago a rich diversity of Crataegus species were found here, including one with large fruits renowned for their taste. John Nelson and Tony Melton and I went for a look. The land has changed a lot since then, but we did find a very large tree of this species, just past flowering in a church cemetery. Providence Church, Sowell Town, McBee, Chesterfield County, South Carolina
