Carex reznicekii (Reznicek's sedge)
This small sedge was named as a new species only in 2006. It actually ranges from New York to Florida. It had gone unnoticed for years because it is so similar to other species like C. nigromarginata (Section Acrocystis). It's been collected only a few times in South Carolina.
East side of Catawba River (Cedar Creek Reservoir), just above dam, just north of terminus of SR-20. On south facing slope just north of a small creek, with Pinus echinata, Quercus alba, Q. rubra, Q. stellata, Aesculus sylvatica, Ostrya, Cornus florida, Carex nigromarginata, C. physorhyncha.
