Anthoxanthum aristatum (Annual vernal grass)

A seldom-noticed grass in South Carolina, I happened to see it in my back yard today. I suspect it is more common than is known. It is much smaller than the abundant cousin Anthoxanthum odoratum (Sweet vernal grass). Both are pleasantly fragrant. West Columbia, Lexington County, South Carolina
