Noose hung from tree, Leavenworth Street between Geary and Post, San Francisco

The noose is often hung in public as a vague threat to African-Americans, recalling the days of lynching. It has replaced the old-fashioned cross-burning, now regarded by courts as an act of terror, because it is easier for the perpetrators to deny any intent to terrorize. I can't even say for sure that this noose-hanging has any such intent behind it, but I remain suspicious.

I have also seen a neo-Nazi graffito in the neighborhood, which is full of people of color and LGBT people, plus, apparently, a few people who are panicked by such diversity. Also I'm Jewish, and I know those few people don't like me either. See also www.flickr.com/photos/35588593@N05/3733445514/ . As with the incident documented at that URL, I am reporting this to the SPLC and the ADL.
