Santa Barbara Harbour

After spending several hours at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, mainly photographing butterflies at the Butterflies Alive! exhibition, I decided to stop briefly at the harbour before heading back home. I was hoping to catch a brilliant sunset, with the Sun dipping like fire into the ocean, but I forgot that the Santa Barbara coast faces due south. In the summer months the Sun sets in the northwest, behind the town. Though I wasn’t able to capture the Sun itself, I was nevertheless pleased by the wonderful gradations of colour and brightness in the sky behind the town, and how the natural, city, and harbour lights were reflected on the water.

This is one of those photos which you really MUST VIEW at higher resolution!
