Tape measure 12 car
Not even shown on Realtime Trains and very hush hush 375 617,710&702 are seen at Westenhanger around 0755 on 5Z11 Ashford Down Yard to D Moor freight Yard on October 1st 2016.The train was booked to stop at Sandling to pick up a DB Cargo conductor driver to take the train into the Yard. All very "top secret" at the time this 12 car train was going to be used as a tape measure to see how many units could be berthed on two tracks in D Moor International Freight Yard. The reason being South Eastern were going to be given extra stock and they apparently had no where to berth it so after many high level meetings in secret it was agreed that two roads in D Moor would have walk ways installed and units would be berthed here at night complete with accommodation for carriage cleaners. DB Cargo drivers were going to bring the units down from Ashford at night and take them back to Ashford in the early morning to go straight into passenger service with South Eastern drivers. DB Cargo would have had guaranteed revenue from leasing out the two roads.
Anyway best laid plans and all that but after measuring up and lots of high level meetings for some reason it never happened after being told it definitely would!
