AN AULD TOWER.
the remains of goldielands tower. a fortified house minus it's roof, small scrub trees now grow from that area. which dates from about the 1500s, it stands on top of a 600ft hill with vast views of the surrounding countryside, and is now surrounded by trees. once home to the scotts of buccleuch, legend has it that an underground tunnel which would be under the river teviot, once connected goldielands tower to branxholme castle about a mile further south. another stronghold of the buccleuchs, and that part of the tunnel caved in when a playing piper was making his way through it from branxholme to goldielands - and he was never seen again, this view is from the overhall woods. hawick, scottish borders, scotland.
